説明 | 3rd century ADA rare pottery fragment discovered at Segedunum Roman Fort (Wallsend) in Newcastle upon Tyne. Usually barbotine pottery depicts hunting scenes - but this little pot was decorated with imagery of ducks! It is smaller than usual for this type of beaker and would likely have been for drinking. It would have originally been made in the Lower Nene Valley in south east England. A full reconstruction of the pot was created by Potted History for the Romans on the Tyne project and can be seen here: potted-history.co.uk/products/segedunum-duck-cup |
