| 説明 | Built in 1962, this Modern office building was designed by Vladimir Ossipoff to house the Hawaiian offices of IBM (International Business Machines). The 6-story building features a sculptural concrete screen in front of the building’s glass curtain wall that is bent to form a set of interlocking hexagons, modern additions to the penthouse and podium that have altered the exterior of the building and added an asymmetrical and unbalanced feeling to the building’s design, and a sunken front courtyard with a hexagonal motif similar to the screen on the building’s facade. The building is one of the few structures at Ward Village that is being retained during the ongoing redevelopment of the shopping district into a mixed-use residential and retail district, and serves as the management and sales office for the redevelopment. |
