| 説明 | 'Areas of natural beauty' are protected against inappropriate development, unless the Secretary of State decides otherwise. Not quite two years in to construction, not even started on the cutting for the line, but the whole area is now used as a dump for spoil from the tunnel portal. The line of oak trees in the upper picture runs along the side of Leather Lane - an ancient sunken lane - and form an important corridor for wildlife, particularly bats. Save Leather Lane is a group of local residents fighting to save all the remaining oaks, and re-establish the corridor once construction is completed.
