| 説明 | Max Square in downtown La Grande Oregon.Max Square on the corner of Adams Avenue and Fourth Street in downtown Lagrande and serves as the community’s Town Square. The park has a small, lighted stage and concrete seating, providing a venue for community celebrations, musical events and the Farmer's Market. Located across the street both City Hall and the Cook Memorial Library, the park also includes a transit stop and is a natural gathering place for locals throughout the year. Standing at the entrance of the park is a large bronze historical reproduction of Cast Iron Mary. The original Cast Iron Mary was erected on September 1, 1904, by the Women's Christian Temperance Union. Her purpose was two-fold: first to provide good, clean drinking water for people, horses and dogs; and, secondly, to entice the menfolk away from the numerous taverns found in La Grande at the time. |
