説明 | In response to the US Supreme Court draft decision that leaked this week, the Party for Socialism and Liberation Northeast Ohio (apparently not officially a chapter of the Party for Socialism and Liberation, at this time) organized a "Defend Roe! Emergency Rally" that took place today at Public Square, along the streets downtown, and nearby the baseball stadium gate. Protestors, including me, chanted "my body, my choice!", "post-Roe, hell no!", and "pro-life is a lie, you don't care if we die" among other chants. Speakers nearby the baseball stadium emphasized the danger to people with uteruses posed by anti-abortion leaders who don't even understand the human bodies they want to control. One warned that if the Supreme Court argues in the forthcoming decision that there is no implied right to privacy in the Constitution, then abortion isn't the only right that leaders will try to strip us of, using examples including LGBT rights. Some speakers criticized the Democrats for failing to codify Roe. One talked about how she brought her 13-year-old sister to the rally because she wanted to rebuke leaders who would force her 13-year-old sister to carry a pregnancy to term, if her sister were to be raped and impregnated. One person emphasized that if Roe were struck down, the poor would have the most difficult time obtaining abortions.I was taking pictures primarily with my DSLR, but I got tired of holding it and on the return march, I switched to my tablet, so these are all tablet photos.License: CC BY 4.0 (ignore the version in the copyright field; I don't understand why Flickr uses an old version of the Creative Commons licenses):creativecommons.org/licenses/by/4.0/ |
