説明 | Class 66 diesel 66091 stands at Glasgow Central Platform 11 after bringing in the stock of the UK Railtours weekend excursion on Sunday 10 April 2022 prior to the departure for Aberdeen. Although the loco is in full Direct Rail Services (DRS) livery it is actually owned by Deutsche Bundesbahn Cargo (DBC), on long term lease to DRS but short term hired back by DBC. Above the train is part of the superb steel and glass roof that covers most of the station. The station here opened on 1 August 1879 when the line from the Bridge Street terminus on the south bank of the Clyde was extended across the river, although the present layout is essentially that completed in 1905/6. The Category A Listed status is matched by assessments that put in in the top ten best stations in Britain when considered on architectural merit, and by its status as having the highest customer rating (95.2%) of any UK station. |
