説明 | Angela got a chickadee tattooed on her arm, based on a photo she and the artist found online somewhere. When I saw it I noticed the beak was too short; apparently our local mountain chickadees have longer beaks than most other varieties. Luckily this was easy to correct in the tattoo, using photos from my Flickr account. It is such a joy watching these clever little birds (I know they are clever because I read about them in The Genius of Birds). After studying carefully the behavior of the chickadees, we decided most of them were more afraid of the bullies among themselves than they were of, for example, hawks. They had almost no fear of humans.A GPS track of this hike is here.2023 edit: According to the latest science, feeding the chickadees is not harmful for them: mitchbarrie.net/files/stats_and_articles/dont_feed_the_be... |
