There are three situated on Rosemount Viaduct and comprise the Central Library, Saint Marks Church and His Majesty's Theatre, the former two of which are seen here. The Central Library was promoted by public subscription from 1889 and opened on 5 July 1892 by Andrew Carnegie, who with his wife had contributed around a fifth of the total cost.Saint Marks Church is a highly impressive building, completed in 1892 to the design of Alexander Marshall McKenzie. |
