| 説明 | I've lived on-and-off in Des Moines for the past 25 years, and only today did I even realize that the Maffitt Lake Reservoir existed. This 200 acre man-made lake was built in the early 1940s to provide an emergency backup source of water for the city following a drought in 1934. It still serves the same purpose today, as well as providing a 600-acre recreational area around the reservoir. This brick building houses controls for a dam that regulates the water level.It was a very gray and dreary afternoon, so much so that the water, sky and horizon almost turned to black-and-white. I like the split in this image between the grayness on the one side and the satured color of the brick on the other. |
