| 説明 | Built in 1870, this Italianate and Romanesque Revival-style building once housed the Masonic Hall for Danville, and was also at times occupied by various local banks, with a department store being located in the building in the early 20th Century. The three-story building features a painted brick exterior with a seven-bay principal facade, machicolations, corbeling, and recessed brick panels around the window bays, a decorative bracketed cornice at the top of the front facade, arched eight-over-six windows on the second and third floors, decorative window headers, a date stone at the top of the central bay, which also spells out the name of the building’s original function, and features cast iron columns on the first floor between the modern storefronts. The building is a contributing structure in the Danville Commercial District Historic District, listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1986. |
