| 説明 | Built in 1882, this Italianate and Queen Anne-style building was once the Saint Paul Fire Department Engine House number 5. The building served as the firehouse for the surrounding neighborhood until 1930, being enlarged in size with an addition to the east with an additional bay and expansion of the second floor living quarters. After falling out of use as a fire station, the building was converted into a Pure Oil Service Station, then became a series of automobile repair businesses from the 1940s into the 1960s. Since the late 1970s, the building has hosted a number of notable restaurants. The building is a contributing structure in the Historic Hill District, listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1976. |
