| 説明 | I didn't go to where the serious damage was. There's plenty of other people taking pictures at those places.This was a safe distance from the Iowa Street flood plain that the city has tried to protect, but this flood went over the top, so to speak.Iowa Street has lots of flatland for parking lots. Auto Row, but the problem is that businesses go with the lots. It's usually easier for a lot to recover than a building.This Iowa Street flooding used to be a problem in the 1980s, but the city built up the banks of Whatcom Creek to resolve it. This flood must have gone over the top. Over the years, it has been either flood Iowa or allow Lake Whatcom to go higher than some kind of agreement allows. The dikes were fixed that till this bigger flood came along, I guess. |
