説明 | Brrrr, this looks freezing. What an amazing sight it would have been to see this much snow at Lobethal. The original photograph of this edited and colourised image was taken on the 28th of July, 1901 and is called "Snow at Lobethal (B 21177)". It is from the State Library of South Australia and forms part of the Lobethal Collection. The unedited black and white photograph can be accessed via the link below:collections.slsa.sa.gov.au/resource/B+21177Lobethal, a name coming from the Old Testament, translates to 'Valley of Praise'. So aptly named, as it's a very pretty town located in the picturesque Adelaide Hills. Lobethal was settled in 1842 by German migrants from the sailing vessel Skjold as well as a Pastor Fritzsche. The town was laid out in the hufendorf style, "with the cottages arranged in a line along the main street, and each family having a long, narrow strip of land (used for growing crops) stretching from the main street back to the village common, where all families could allow their animals to graze." Sources: Wikipedia and Adelaide Hills Council. If you would like more information on this historical town, visit the Lobethal Archive and Historical Museum. explore.history.sa.gov.au/.../lobethal-archives...PLEASE NOTE: The colours on my modified photographs are not meant to be an absolute representation of what existed when the original pictures were taken. I try my best to replicate colours, but I ask that you please view the colourised photographs as digital art.
