| 説明 | This resident female Red-crowned Kākāriki (NZ native parrot) was preening herself in amongst the foliage at the Central Energy Trust Wildbase Recovery Centre in the Victoria Esplanade, Palmerston North. She was a bit shy so had her back to onlookers. Red-crowned kākāriki are one of the three species that make up the parakeet group known as kākāriki in New Zealand. They are the largest of the kākāriki species with the Orange-fronted kākāriki or kākāriki karaka being the smallest and the most endangered. |
