説明 | This file was created by the Native Affairs Department of the Administration of Western Samoa. It consists of files relating to the Mau political intelligence. The Mau was a resistant, non-violent movement dedicated to the preservation of Samoan culture and the establishment of Samoan independence from the various colonies that governed it. It was established in 1908, and grew in support reaching its peak in the 1920s. In December 1929, members of the Mau movement were shot and killed by New Zealand police during a peaceful march through Apia. This included Mau leader Tupua Tamasese Lealofi II.Archives New Zealand Reference: ACFX 8297 IT-A6 1 1 Material from Archives New Zealand Te Rua Mahara o te Kāwanatanga |
