説明 | Plants have 2 types of transport vessels. The vessels that transport water and minerals from the roots to other parts are called xylem vessels. Those that transport sugars, amino acids and other nutrients manufactured in the leaves are called phloem vessels. These images depict xylem vessels that were ingested as part of edible plant materials. These have a typical coiled appearance when viewed microscopically. They are surrounded by a foreign body inflammatory reaction. Image contributed by Dr. Monika Vyas @Mvgs1706 |
