Ware of Newhope, Arkansas (fourth from right), having Sunday morning breakfast at the house of Mr. and Mrs. Steffen in Marburg, Germany, in 1945 during World War II. Also pictured are young German civilian women Miss Schaeffer, Miss Kuster, and Miss Schaeffer’s sister. Photograph taken while U.S. Army Lt. Robert J. Pleasants of Cary, NC, was serving as an assistant to the Food and Agricultural Officer with the U.S. Office of Military Government’s Kassel Governmental District’s Food and Agricultural Section. Pleasants and Ware were visiting Marburg either for work or at the invitation of the young women [who may have worked at the U.S. Office of Military Government offices [circa 1945].From Robert J.
