説明 | Westfield soils are found on upland ridges and side slopes. They are deep and well drained. They have a brown loamy surface layer and red clayey subsoil. A layer of soft, weathered bedrock is found at depths of 40 to 60 inches. Westfield soils formed in material weathered from metamorphic rocks. Most areas of Westfield soils are used for cropland, hay, and pasture. In forested areas, Eastern white pine, Virginia pine, red oak, white oak, post oak, hickory, blackgum, red maple, and yellow poplar are the common trees. The common understory plants are sourwood, flowering dogwood, winged elm, eastern cedar, eastern redbud, and sassafras.Photo by John A.
