説明c/n 16073Built in 1941 with the US military serial 41-13297.A remarkable survivor, she was at Pearl Harbour during the Japanese attack on 7th December 1941 but survived as she was undergoing maintenance in a hangar. Operated by the 73rd Pursuit Squadron, part of the 18th Pursuit Group based at Wheeler Field, she spun in and crashed on 24th January 1942. The remains were recovered in 1985 and 1989 and she was rebuilt/restored using parts from both 39-285 and 39-287, the remains of which had also been recovered. She flew again in January 2007 and arrived in the UK during April that year. She was operated by the Fighter Collection (TFC) from 2007 until 2014 when she was sold to the Collins Foundation and moved to the USA.Back in her TFC days, she is seen displaying at the Imperial War Museum’s 2012 Autumn Airshow.Duxford Airfield, Cambridgeshire, UK8th September 2012The following information is from The Fighter Collection website:-"The Fighter Collection Warhawk is a truly unique machine, as she is the only remaining airworthy survivor from the Japanese attack on Pearl Harbour on 7th December 1941. In additional to this auspicious history she is also the oldest airworthy P-40B in the world. One of the 131 P40-Bs built at the Curtiss facility in Buffalo, New York during 1940-1941 and allocated the Bu No. 41-13297, she was delivered to the USAAC in March 1941. She was quickly sent to Wheeler Field, Hawaii in April of that year, becoming part of the 19th Pursuit Squadron of the 18th Pursuit Group. She crashed on a Hawaiian hillside in February 1942 when Lt Ken Sprankle failed to recover from a spin. The substantial remains were recovered in 1987 when she underwent some restoration work until the Warhawk eventually joined The Fighter Collection in June 2003. The completion of the P-40B restoration was carried out in California and she flew once again at Chino with Steve Hinton at the controls in October 2004. Our Warhawk flies wearing the scheme she wore during her time in Hawaii with the 18th Pursuit Group."
