説明 | Ever wonder what’s out there in our own backyard? A 2018 exhibit in the Mann Library at Cornell University explored that very question, showcasing the fascinating outcomes of the 2017 SIPS BioBlitz where teams of scientists and volunteers joined forces to catalogue as many species as possible in a 24-hour period. By the time they were finished, the teams had cataloged over 500 macroscopic species and 25,000 species of microbes at the Cayuga Nature Center (CNC) in Ithaca and the old-growth forest remnant Smith Woods near Trumansburg. The new multi-media exhibit in the Mann Gallery, a joint effort of Paleontological Research institution and Cornell University, explores the BioBlitz event, its findings, and applications, while celebrating the depth and range of biodiversity in our Cayuga Basin.
