説明 | CYPRESS PARK - LAFD extinguished a blaze in a large auto parts warehouse on Tuesday, in the early morning hours. The Los Angeles Fire Department responded to a greater alarm structure fire at 4:02 AM on Tuesday, February 2, 2021 at 1004 North San Fernando Road in Cypress Park. First-arriving companies found a large auto parts warehouse (approximately 9,000 square feet) engulfed in flames. Firefighters immediately engaged in a defensive fire attack (from the exterior of the structure), setting up large hand lines and ladder pipes to flood the building with large streams of water. Unfortunately, this required San Fernando Road to be completely blocked by fire apparatus, affecting morning commuters. After approximately two hours, 115 firefighters had eliminated the threat, however pockets of hot burning material still remained. The incident commander ordered LAFD heavy equipment crews to assist with moving rubble and debris to provide better access to firefighters' hose streams. Although the fire was well contained just after 6:00 AM, an official "knockdown" of the fire was not declared until 10:41 AM, 6 hours and 39 minutes after the original alarm.Crews systematically arranged for personnel swaps, as LAFD typically has a "shift change" that is completed by 6:30 AM each morning. The fresh firefighters coming in worked many hours into the afternoon to complete overhaul operations, ensuring there were no sources for the pile of rubble to rekindle. No injuries were sustained by firefighters or civilians during this incident. The cause is under investigation.Photo Use Permitted via Creative Commons - Credit: LAFD Photo | David OrtizLAFD Incident: 020221-0158Connect with us: LAFD.ORG | News | Facebook | Instagram | Reddit | Twitter: @LAFD @LAFDtalk |
