| 説明 | Male, female, and juvenile in flight.Crockett Lake, Whidbey Island, WAOctober, 2010These birds flew directly over us on their way to Crockett Lake. It startled me, and I flubbed getting a picture of them closer. But that's how you develop reflexes.Snow geese form long-term pair bonds in their second year, and breed in their third. The female lays 3-5 eggs in a shallow nest on the ground. The young are precocial, which means they can feed themselves shortly after hatching. Both parents tend the young. (BirdWeb)Young snow geese stay with their parents through their first winter, traveling together through their migration and only separating after they return to the breeding grounds.
