| 説明 | Archive 2016Dutch/ EnglishDe Grote Kerk of formeel Onze lieve vrouwekerk, van oorsprong een Katholieke kruisbasiliek en na het jaar 1426 een Domkerk, heeft een voorganger in romaanse stijl gehad, waarvan de fundamenten bij opgravingswerkzaamheden onder het huidige gebouw zijn gevonden. De tegenwoordige kerk is opgetrokken in een vrij sobere variant van de Brabantse gotiek waarvan ze een van de meest noordelijke representanten is. Het is ook de enige grote stadskerk in het voormalige graafschap Holland die volledig in steen is overwelfd.Het oudste deel van de tegenwoordige kerk is het Mariakoor, een kapel ten noorden van het hoogkoor die vanaf 1285 werd opgetrokken. Misschien was de verheffing tot kapittelkerk in 1367 aanleiding tot grootscheepse nieuwbouw. De kerk werd in 1457 ernstig beschadigd door een grote stadsbrand, maar vier jaar later was de schade hersteld. Rond 1470 had de kerk haar huidige vorm. De Vlaamse bouwmeester Everaert Spoorwater heeft een belangrijk aandeel gehad in de bouw. De toren, ontworpen door Antoon I Keldermans, werd gebouwd vanaf circa 1504 maar zij is nooit geheel voltooid. De kerk is voor het laatst van 1982 tot 1987 geheel gerestaureerd. In 1572 kwam de kerk in handen van de protestanten. De kerk staat in de 'Top 100 van de Rijksdienst voor de Monumentenzorg' uit 1990. The "Big Church" or formally Our beloved lady Church, originally a Catholic cross basilica, after the year 1426 a Cathedral, has had a Romanesque-style predecessor, the foundations of which were found during excavation work under the current building. The present church is built in a fairly austere variant of the Brabant Gothic of which it is one of the most northerly representatives. It is also the only large city church in the former county of Holland that is completely vaulted in stone.The oldest part of the current church is the Maria Choir, a chapel to the north of the high choir that was built from 1285 onwards. Perhaps the elevation to collegiate church in 1367 prompted large-scale new construction. The church was badly damaged by a major city fire in 1457, but four years later the damage was repaired. The church had its current form around 1470. The Flemish builder Everaert Spoorwater played an important part in the construction. The tower, designed by Antoon I Keldermans, was built from around 1504, but it was never fully completed. The church was completely restored from 1982 to 1987.In 1572 the church came into the hands of the Protestants.
