| 説明 | Photograph of stacks of yeontan [or coal briquettes] outside and inside a doorway of a shop in a local market somewhere in Seoul, South Korea, around late 1970 or early 1971. The yeontan were used as fuel for cooking and home heating. Photograph taken or collected by Stephan and Carolyn Kayne while he was serving as the Provost Marshall at the U.S. Army’s Yongsan Garrison (also known as the Yongsan Army Base) for a year from 1970 to 1971 in Seoul.
