| 説明 | Magnetite skarn from the Precambrian of New York State, USA.This iron ore sample is from a magnetite body at New York State's Tilly Foster Iron Mine. The sample is dominated by magnetite (= Fe3O4, iron oxide) with serpentine and chondrodite. The deposit has been interpreted as a skarn, which is a contact metamorphic deposit. Skarn rocks have a crystalline texture and form by heating and addition of elements (metasomatism) to country rock in the vicinity of an igneous intrusion (batholith, stock, sill, dike, laccolith).
