| 説明 | Several commercial fishers are licensed to catch blue catfish through low-frequency electrofishing. This method delivers a nonlethal stun to catfish and does not affect protected species in Virginia waters. Catching blue catfish using gill nets is labor-intensive and can have unintended effects on other species. VIMS Marine Advisory's Bob Fisher, a fisheries and seafood technology specialist at Virginia Institute of Marine Science, has collaborated with Trice to document the safety and efficiency of electrofishing as a commercial gear type in Virginia.
