| 説明 | Used clothes for sale outside the inter state bus terminal in Imphal, capital of Manipur in NE India. Most of these are sourced from Burma by the Tamu (Burma)- Moreh (Manipur) border. Used, refurbished clothing brought in from neighbouring Burma (Myanmar) is big business in Imphal and we saw long lines of hundreds of shops carrying on this trade. Imphal is the capital city of the Indian state of Manipur in NE India. The metropolitan centre of the city contains the ruins of Kangla Palace (also known as Kangla Fort), the royal seat of the former Kingdom of Manipur, surrounded by a moat. We had left Pharung village (where we were based) a couple of hours earlier than normal as we wanted to explore these places but sadly our driver refused to go around those places due to heavy traffic congestion. We therefore had to get off once for lunch and then spend the rest of the extra time simply sitting in the airport. (Imphal, Manipur, NE India, Jan. 2020) |
