| 説明 | Leiden is famous for its university, founded in 1575 and is Netherlands' oldest. The town has been thriving ever since the Middle Ages because of its position on a branch of the Rhine (Rijn in Dutch) just before it flows into the North Sea.I had not planned on visiting Leiden not so much because I thought Leiden was uninteresting, but because there're too many places that I wanted to visit and I simply had to drop most of the places on my visit.But during our meeting on the second day of my Dutch trip, my good friend Michiel extended me a warm invitation to visit Leiden. So after my visit to Zaanse Schans, I sent a message to Michiel to see if he's free to meet up.Despite only giving him a 2-hour notice, he kindly and readily welcomed me to Leiden. I owe him a big "dank" for his warm hospitality. I plan to see Leiden again next time I visit Nederland. Leiden is a very historic, cultural, academic and sophisticated city. My best meal was had in Leiden too! |
