| 説明 | Stream anticlines are superficial structures formed at the Earth's surface by fluvial action - they are not tectonic in origin. These structures are subtle uparched folds that can form in bedrock-floored streams. Seen here is the ruptured crest of a stream anticline in southeastern Ohio. The rocks are cherty limestones of the Brush Creek Limestone. Mudshales occur below the limestone interval. The limestones here are partially to mostly chertified and some marine fossils are present. This is one of several marine limestone intervals in the Conemaugh Group, an Upper Pennsylvanian cyclothemic succession in eastern Ohio that contains nonmarine shales, marine shales, siltstones, sandstones, coals, marine limestones, and chert ("flint").Stratigraphy: Brush Creek Limestone, Glenshaw Formation, lower Conemaugh Group, Missourian Series, lower Upper PennsylvanianLocality: Island Run at Helmick Bridge, northwestern Morgan County, Ohio, USA |
