| 説明 | Taken on a Kodak Instamatic 126 with a fish-eye lens, this is the only shot I ever took of a Comet. G-BDIT de Haviland DH.106 Comet 4C of Dan Air London is seen at the old terminal at Birmingham's Elmdon airport during the hot summer of 1976. This block of five Comet 4s were obtained from Royal Air Force Transport Command and were therefore in excellent mechanical condition Delivered to Transport Command as XR395, this Comet served with the RAF until 1975, when it was dispoed of to Dan Air along with four others. It continued to serve on Dan Air's IT and charter routes until 1980. It was breifly preserved by Doug Arnold at Blackbushe airport in Hampshire, but when plans to convert it to a restaurant fell through, it was broken up in 1984. |
