説明 | Prince Albert's Cairn (1862), Balmoral Castle Estate, Crathie, Nr Ballater, Royal Deeside, Cairngorms National Park, Aberdeenshire, Scotland, UK. This amazing pyramid was built in memory of Prince Albert, at the request of Queen Victoria, after his untimely death from typhoid in 1861 at Windsor Castle.. Sited near Balmoral Castle it is the largest dry stone feature in Scotland and a great tribute not only to his memory but also to the craftsmen who fashioned the rocks out of granite .A pyramid (from Greek: πυραμίς pyramís) is a structure whose outer surfaces are triangular and converge to a single step at the top, making the shape roughly a pyramid in the geometric sense. The base of a pyramid can be trilateral, quadrilateral, or of any polygon shape. As such, a pyramid has at least three outer triangular surfaces (at least four faces including the base). The square pyramid, with a square base and four triangular outer surfaces, is a common version. |
