| 説明 | March 14th is π day, a solemn holiday of the highest rank for some of us who are mathematically inclined (and therefore enjoy having fun with mathematics). On several occasions, I have celebrated the day by baking a pie or a round cake decorated with the symbol π. My children and I then measure the circumference and diameter to "prove" that π is equal to... well, 3.6? 3.2? Measurement error creeps in too quickly! We have sometimes managed to come close to 3.14, but only by getting 3.16 or thereabouts. They still learn something and get a tasty dessert to boot! |
