| 説明 | Granodiorite in the Devonian of Vermont, USA.The rock seen here is at a New England quarry that targets decorative stone-quality material. It is a type of "gray granite" in the retail trade, but it's really granodiorite. It has less quartz than a true granite. This material is derived from the Barre Granite (Barre Pluton) of Vermont. The name is pronounced "berry". This igneous intrusion formed by partial melting of Silurian-Devonian sedimentary rocks that had been folded and regionally metamorphosed during the Acadian Orogeny in eastern America.
