説明 | The two towers of KZER/1250am, aka Lazer, shot on approach to SBA, Santa Barbara's airport, on a flight from LAX. We were landing at about 200 miles per hour, so I shot this at a 650th of a second, and from the other side of the plane, meaning my seat was not by that window, but rather by the one on the other side.KZER was born as KTMS in 1939, and the original towers were in the park east of the Wharf downtown. These towers are "top-loaded," with a flat "umbrella" on top, meant to make the tower electrically longer. (There are surely height restrictions for towers so close to the airport.) It broadcasts with 2.5kw by day and 1kw by night, with two different directional patterns, both aimed up and down the coast. |
