説明Paper cranes made using Japanese origami by local schoolchildren to denounce nuclear war and to honour a small child Sadako Sasaki. Sadako was not killed during the bombing but developed leukemia due to the radiation. Sadako then started making paper cranes with a hope of making 1000 of them after a friend told her that one who made 1000 paper cranes would be granted a wish. Sadako’s wish was merely to live. The child was two when she was diagnosed with leukemia but sadly died soon after. These origami paper cranes are placed in a series of glass cases next to the Childrens' Peace Momunent in the Peace Memorial Park in Hiroshima, Japan. The park is built to commemorate the hundreds upon thousands of victims of the senseless atom bomb attack by the USA during WW- II which flattened a major part of Hiroshima city and killed the residents of those areas, most of them innocent women and children. Granted that the Japanese were not angels either, and had committed several atrocities as well during the war, especially in Thailand, Malaysian Borneo etc. but although a revenge attack by the US probably had it's arguments, the logic of flattening an entire city and killing off it's residents who had nothing to do with the war and were simply going about their daily business really beats me.
