説明 | Photograph taken from a dock looking up at a number of U.S. Army soldiers leaning over the railings of an unidentified Allied troop transport ship, after it had anchored at an unidentified port [believed to be in San Francisco, California] around January 1946. The men were preparing to debark from the ship after returning from overseas service in the Pacific Theater during World War II. Note one of the soldiers holding a captured Japanese Rising Sun kamikaze flag. U.S. Army T/4 Lonnie W. Brown of Granite Quarry, N.C., was aboard this ship, returning from service in the 3015th Engineer Maintenance Company, 4th Engineer Special Brigade [circa 1946]. From Lonnie W. Brown Papers, WWII 202, Military Collection, State Archives of North Carolina, Raleigh, N.C. |
