| 説明 | Thomas Edison was granted a patent for an incandescent lamp on 27 January, 1880. Although Edison is well-known for the incandescent light bulb, his design was not the first – just one of the most successful.In this time period New Zealand inventors were also creating electric lights. This image is from record series 7746 of Original Drawings for Patent Specifications. Submitted by Elihu Thomson in 1892 the drawing shows an incandescent electric lamp, or light bulb, patent number 5752. These binder volumes contain copies of original drawings that were part of patent applications. These oversized drawings (i.e. larger that A4 size) were too large to be added to the corresponding patent application file.
