| 説明 | A pre-war airfield, Newtownards was requisitioned by the military at the start of WW2 and upgrades had largely taken place by 1940. Flying operations mainly consisted of support to training or marine convoys, but by 1942 the airfield was home to 22 fighters and up to 600 personnel. The airfield was bombed during the 1941 air raids on Northern Ireland. |
