説明 | Densely forested watershed of Wasson Creek Wild and Scenic River, just outside the boundary of the Devil's Staircase Wilderness, Oct. 21, 2019, by Greg Shine, BLM.The Wasson Creek Wild and Scenic River flows through the Devil’s Staircase Wilderness. The Bureau of Land Management responsible for the administration of 4.2 miles of the 10.1-mile river. The river, at times a mere trickle, travels through a rugged and inaccessible old-growth forest in the Oregon Coast Range, and provides important habitat for Coho and Chinook salmon, trout, and steelhead. The surrounding wilderness’ namesake, the Devil’s Staircase, is a low cascading waterfall, created where Wasson Creek tumbles over sandstone outcroppings.Know Before You Go: Single lane gravel or paved roads border the area; a high clearance vehicle is recommended; There are no facilities or developed trails along the river; and Cell phone and GPS coverage in the area is intermittent. Point of Interest:Wasson Lake forms where Wasson River enters a low spot in the Devil's Staircase Wilderness. Location:From Scottsburg, Oregon, Wasson River is approximately four miles north of the junction of Highway 88 and Wells Creek Road on Wasson Lake Road.
