説明 | KIngsbury Barn , Terry Brown teaching English martial arts. English martial arts, were as systematised, codified and revered, as Kendo, Judo, or Karate in Japan. Mediaeval London abounded with sword and buckler schools so much so they were ordered outside the city walls. In Japan you got a black belt in England you had pubic displays, martial guilds and became a Maister. England swarmed with yeoman and peasants trained in bows and how to use a staff. Not for nothing was the quarter staff, known as the 'queen of the battlefield' and could defeat most armored knights. ( and was never wielded as seen in the movies) Martial skills were the green cross code of the middle ages, and a skilled armed underclass made aristocrats pause before getting uppity. This is part of our heritage that is sadly forgotten, ( if want to know more read Terry Browns excellent book on English Martial Arts, www.terrybrownenglishmartialarts.com/ ) |
