説明 | Bivalve fossils in the Jurassic of Utah, USA.This bedding plane is covered with fossil clams (bivalves). The rock is part of a large talus block from the Jurassic-aged Stump Formation, a marine, mixed-siliciclastics unit. I think the lithology here is limestone - fossil bivalves have been reported from limestone interbeds in the Stump. Known Stump Formation bivalves include Camptonectes, Meleagrinella, Ostrea, Oxytoma, and VaugoniaStratigraphy: Stump Formation, Middle Jurassic to Upper JurassicLocality: Fossil Discovery Trail, western Dinosaur National Monument, northern Uintah County, northeastern Utah, USA (vicinity of 40° 26' 30.98" North latitude, 109° 17' 56.89" West longitude)------------See info. at:en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dinosaur_National_Monument------------Geologic map of Dinosaur National Monument:pubs.usgs.gov/imap/1407/plate-1.pdf |
