| 説明 | Kevin Godsea, formerly the refuge manager for Cape Romain NWR, stands next to a levee (and road) that was built in 1988. The levee holds back the sea to create Jacks Pond, a valuable freshwater impoundment for wood storks and other wading birds, shorebirds and waterfowl. The levee has been shored up as recently as 2006, but is expected to breach for good in about three to five years, or less depending on hurricane and tropical storm activity.
