| 説明 | The resort has suffered much damage due to extreme winter storms over the last few years. When she was a child my mother, who is now 99, lived and went to school not far from Salthill which was at the time a very popular holiday destination. As I have never liked Irish seaside resorts and as my mother has always described Salthill as similar to Bray I never bothered visiting until 2015. While my mother’s description is accurate to some degree I would describe it as being more attractive than Bray.Last Wednesday I got the 401 bus from Eyre to Salthill Promenade - there is a bus every twenty minutes which is poor considering that Salthill is a popular resort. Two gentlemen that I met on the bus last year had told me that the frequency reduces to forty minutes at certain times of the day but having looked at the timetable this claim does not currently appear to be the case but last year I was at the bus stop for more than 35 minutes waiting for a bus back to the city centre.In 2017 I had to abandon my plan to photograph the holiday resort because of the weather. Last year over a three day period I visited four times and eventually there was an hour during which it was not raining.This year I encountered very wet and windy conditions but I was better prepared as I had brought along much better weather protection for myself and my camera. Because of a weather protection cover on the camera I was limited to using a small 25mm Zeiss Lens and the top of many images was obstructed by a loose flap blowing in the wind. |
