説明 | I was searching dangerous things around the yard in Florida for an upcoming macro photo challenge! I came across what I thought was one spider in its web! There were two! They were long-jawed orbweaver spiders! Their markings were pretty and this is what attracts prey! They are not dangerous. They are helpful in the garden to control insects. The fact that there were two spiders sent me reading! I learned about the mating process. The female spins the web. Males insure the spider is of the same species through a chemical recognition "smelling". Then, the smaller male conducts a vibration on the female's web, asking for safe passage! Otherwise, the female might eat him! Once approved by the female, the male completes the mating process! Correct me, please, if I have identified these spiders incorrectly! There are a few in this species that are so, so similar! |
