| 説明 | Re-dedication of the First Powerhouse at Bonneville Lock and Dam on Tuesday, July 20, 2010. The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers' Deputy Commanding General and Deputy Chief of Engineers, Maj. Gen. Merdith W.B. (Bo) Temple was the keynote speaker for this ceremony, which marked over 70 years' of hydropower generation and looks forward to another 70 years.This event marked the end of a 17-year-long project to rebuild the powerhouse at a cost of $140 billion.Originally built in 1937, the rebuilding improvements yielded an increase of 15% in power generation capacity, and an improvement of 1% in the survival rate of salmon passing through, and improved flexibility in power delivery to coordinate with wind power resources.Photo by Diana J.
