| 説明 | DoD STARBASE Los Alamitos youth rocketry team member Dalton Chi, 12, a Community Home Education Program sixth grader from Cerritos, California, repairs a loose rocket fin, May 17, 2019, in Arlington, Virginia, on the afternoon prior to the team's launch at the Team America Rocketry Challenge (TARC) National Finals Fly Off. The team prepared multiple matching rockets for the finals so they would have options as to which rocket to fly in the morning launch and which to fly in the afternoon championship round, if needed. Flying a single rocket multiple times puts added stress on the components which could lead to a disqualifying incident during the launch. STARBASE Los Alamitos is one of two Department of Defense STARBASE science, technology, engineering and math-based programs facilitated by the California National Guard.
