説明 | JAMIESON, Oregon -- Farmers Kenneth and Sheri Jensen, and their daughter, Rose, hosted a group of natural resource professionals to learn about how their farming practices maximize soil health while benefiting crop production and grazing. The Jensen's are 100% no-till, which means they farm without disturbing the soil with conventional tillage. They also leave crop residue on the fields to provide soil cover; and they plant cover crops to protect the soil during the winter months. They use cattle to graze down the cover crops. The Jensen's were early adopters of the soil health movement in Eastern Oregon. They continue to try new approaches and embrace an innovative mindset to solve farming challenges while keeping their soil as healthy as possible. NRCS photo by Tracy Robillard, May 14, 2019. |
