| 説明 | glostrup town hall, glostrup, greater copenhagen, 1953-1959.architect: arne jacobsen, 1902-1971.jacobsen's least known and, frankly, least exciting town hall is helped by what appears to be a bronze statue of a lesbian catfight in the nude. I am not sure what it is meant to represent, but it does suggest that our public spaces could be a whole lot more interesting.glostrup town hall was built on a tight budget for a municipality which was not interested in modern architecture and ordered the all glass competition project changed to red brick.since its construction, it has been allowed to decay, its interior has been defaced with cheap lowered ceilings and its great three story window in front of jacobsen's trademark open staircase has been boarded up.still, I have a few original details to show you in the following photos.more jacobsen. |
