| 説明 | The devastation caused in Miraumont-le-Grand during the Somme advance, was captured on camera by the British official photographer, John Warwick Brooke. Countless towns and villages along the entire length of the Western Front suffered a similar fate to this. The work of photographers such as Warwick Brooke has provided future generations with an invaluable account of this dark episode in human history.It is estimated that in France alone approximately 300,000 houses were destroyed as a direct result of the fighting during World War I.
