| 説明 | King George V is standing in the foreground, watching as soldiers take part in a sports day event. The men taking part are in full uniform and are carrying full packs. The exercise shown here is possibly part of a larger assault course. A large crowd of soldiers watch on as the men are put through their paces. This photograph is thought to have been taken by the British official photographer, John Warwick Brooke.Appointed by the Government and Military, official photographers were encouraged to record positive images of life at the Front.
